Glass Ceilings Broken!
Glass ceilings across the country have shattered with last night’s elections. In a tough year for Democrats, women candidates have managed to make history:
- RI-SOS: Nellie Gorbea will be first Latina to serve in statewide office in Rhode Island
- MA-AG: Maura Healey will Healey to be the first openly gay Attorney General in the country
- FL-02: Gwen Graham will be the first woman to represent the district in Congress
- MI-12: Debbie Dingell will be the first woman to represent the district in Congress
- MI-14: Brenda Lawrence will be the first woman to represent the district in Congress
- NJ-12: Bonnie Watson Coleman will be the first woman of color to represent New Jersey in Congress, and the first woman to represent the district in Congress
- NC-12: Alma Adams will be the first woman to represent the district in Congress
- RI-GOV: Gina Raimondo will be the first woman Governor of Rhode Island
