Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell, who will likely become majority leader if he wins his re-election campaign next week and if the Republicans win the Senate, has promised his base that a 20-week abortion ban is a priority for him.
Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell claims he is the real champion of women. But his new ad appealing to them has some holes in it.

@marieclairemag named Alison Lundergan Grimes to their list of Women to Watch on Election Day!
Alison Lundergan Grimes has already captured the title of youngest woman currently serving as Secretary of State. Grimes, the Democratic nominee for the up-for-grabs Senate seat in the bluegrass state, has some hefty competition: Mitch McConnell, a Republican and the current senate minority leader. Despite McConnell’s influential position, his reelection isn’t a guarantee. A recent poll from Western Kentucky University shows that in fact, McConnell’s unpopularity may be the key to her win. The significant number of McConnell opponents shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, especially for women: He’s previously voted against enforcing equal pay and the Violence Against Women act.

The latest FEC reports show an overwhelming trend: Democratic women are winning the fundraising race thanks to growing support for their campaigns.
Alison Lundergan Grimes raised $4.4 million, bested Mitch McConnell by $1.7 million and “shattered the fundraising record for the state of Kentucky.” In Georgia Michelle Nunn pulled in $4.15 million in the third quarter, putting her in a strong position to take on David Perdue and his proud record of outsourcing. And in North Carolina Kay Hagan hauled in $4.9 million in third quarter.
And in House races, candidates Annie Kuster in New Hampshire and Aimee Belgard in New Jersey both brought in over half a million dollars in the last quarter alone.
It’s clear Democratic women candidates have the momentum heading into the final stretch.
