Republicans in the Senate
are threatening to defund Planned Parenthood by sneaking amendments into key
legislation.
If Jeb Bush is elected president, his policies would
harm women and families. Just last week, he doubled down on his opinion that
unmarried mothers should be publicly shamed. He has also supported a
national abortion ban and claimed he is “probably the most pro-life governor in
modern times.” Just last year, he asked what the Paycheck Fairness Act was.
Republicans gained control of the Senate by promising that job growth would be their top priority and toning down their anti-woman rhetoric. If voters had any questions about the GOP’s true priorities, these headlines from the past 24 hours should make it clear just how far they’re willing to go to advance their extreme agenda.
Undercutting this critical, bipartisan human trafficking bill is bad politics, bad policy, and one more reason for women to be wary of the GOP.

GOP Wasting No Time
Just days into the 114th Congress Republicans have already introduced five anti-abortion bills, making it clear exactly what their focus is: restricting women’s rights and access to health care. They swiftly abandoned their faux-moderate campaign rhetoric and prioritized cutting funds to Planned Parenthood and making it more difficult for women to have access to reproductive health care.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has wasted no time helping advance this agenda – promising to bring a 20-week ban, a bill violating the provisions of Roe v. Wade, to the Senate floor for consideration. Americans want Congress to be focusing on jobs and the economy and protecting their rights, one week in and Republicans have already fallen down on the job.

House Republicans are renewing their effort to ban abortion after 20 weeks.
Not even 24 hours into the 114th Congress and the GOP has made their priorities crystal clear. Instead of focusing on jobs and the economy, Republicans have chosen to focus once again on chipping away at the rights of women.
They tried to hide their extreme stances on reproductive health during the campaign season but have wasted no time showing their true colors once elected.
This is not the focus that American voters asked for. The GOP is not only wrong on the issue, they are wrong to prioritize it.
Abortion opponents are quietly shifting their agenda, with potentially radical implications.
